Moody's the credit rating agency has proposed new financial reporting criteria to be applied to state pension funds. They are more comprehensive than those required by the Government Accounting Standards Board that will begin in 2014.

Independent public pension analyst John G. Dickerson has taken Moody's potential model and applied it to 6 Bay Area governmental pension groups including Contra Costa County Employees Retirement Association (CCCERA).  John's analysis, available at YourPublicMoney.com, revealed that the payment needed to cover the restated expense for Contra Costa would "consume all county property tax income."

Think of the impact on government services if we continue to underestimate the true cost of the public pension burden AND continue to push these expenses into the future.

Dickerson's study has been the subject of numerous articles and is being presented in speech form for the first time.
