We invite you to attend the CoCoTax Monthly Breakfast on Friday, January 24, at 7:45 am. Space is limited - make your reservation early.
Guest Speaker, Lisa Vorderbrueggen
BIA/Bay Area East Bay Executive Director for Governmental Affairs, Lisa Vorderbrueggen will give an overview of housing legislation signed into law in 2019 and look ahead to what we might see in 2020. She will also provide statistical and historical perspective on the Bay Area housing crisis.
Lisa Vorderbrueggen is the East Bay Executive Director for Governmental Affairs at the Building Industry Association of the Bay Area where she advocates for adequate housing production at all income levels.
Vorderbrueggen joined BIA in March 2014 after a 25-year journalism career. As a reporter, editor and political columnist for the Bay Area News Group and the Contra Costa Times, she covered everything from city council elections to transportation sales tax campaigns to major land-use initiatives, and was instrumental in the production of dozens of televised candidate roundtables for more than a decade.
A fifth-generation Oregonian, Vorderbrueggen earned her journalism degree at the University of Nevada-Reno and began her career at the Nevada Appeal in Carson City, Nevada. She also worked as a national correspondent in Washington, D.C., for the Las Vegas Journal and was the Carson City Bureau Chief for the Reno Gazette-Journal. Her work has been recognized by the Nevada and California press associations and she appeared in two Emmy-award winning documentaries about the construction of the new eastern span of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge.
Vorderbrueggen lives in Martinez with her husband, Joe, a sailing instructor and captain who recently retired from Shell Oil after 39 years. They are both avid sailors but thanks to their 14 grandchildren, they will stay in the San Francisco Bay Area after abandoning plans to spend their retirement years aboard sailboat anchored off Bora Bora.
